exporting recalculated normals in studio XL
AnsweredIn the optimize in studio XL InstaLOD doesn't output textures. I'm optimizing an .obj to 5% triangles. I've switched on Normal recalculation. How do I export this newly generated normal map so I can use it with my decimated mesh?

Hello René,
When you recalculate normals, InstaLOD computes the vertex normals directly stored within the mesh. You could run a bake operation to transfer the normal information into a texture.
I would recommend the following workflow:
- Recalculate the normals for the high-poly mesh using the MTK and export the scene.
- Optimize the mesh (without recalculating normals).
- Reimport the result from step 1.
- Create a bake profile and bake the normal map from the high-poly mesh to the low-poly mesh.
