Less than pleasant results
AnsweredI'm trying to remesh vegetation for a project. Trying to keep the polycount rather low, roughly under 25,000. I have seen insane results from InstaLODs tutorial videos yet anything I do comes out terrible. I have tried countless options still can't pinpoint what I'm doing wrong.
I seen InstaLOD take models with millions of polygons and make them miniscule as can be poly wise with keeping insane detail, while my models im trying to remesh/optimize are half those sizes. Any guidance on what options are the best to try?
Because this just looks horrible.

Hello Tim,
With foliage and vegetation models such as these with thin leaves and translucent areas, it is best to use the Imposterize mesh operation with the Imposter Type: Hybrid Billboard Cloud. This will generate a volume around the object and create planes to represent the foliage with less geometry but still convey parallax.
You can lean more about Imposters at our Knowledge Base here.
In addition we also have a video on the Hybrid Billboard Cloud imposter type within our Imposters playlist on YouTube here.
Thanks,
Jeremy
