Why does InstaLOD create such massive FBX files?

    Hello Sam,

The FBX file format keeps some unused data if the scene is exported with the default settings, like unused materials and other cache data. To strip obsolete data you can set the export settings to 'Custom' in the export file dialog. Additionally, you could strip more information from the file in the settings panel of the export. However, setting the export to Custom will already remove a huge amount of data from the file in many cases.

    Thanks,
    Erhan

Thank you, I have done this step, and when I export it the files are massive. I turn off everything but Normals, Normals and Tangents and  Smoothing Groups, everything else is off, and it still makes massive files. Example: I exported a scene with around 900K polygons. This went out at 453 mb. of data. I import that into, 3ds Max, Maya or Blender, re export and the file comes in around 190 mb of data, what is it holding onto?

    Hello Sam,

Can you send us the input file and the profile that you used to process so we can take a look at it?

    Thanks,
