An error comes up if InstaLOD cannot reimport the processed mesh into Maya/ 3ds Max. This mostly happens due to naming collisions in the scene graph.
If the scene contains meshes from earlier InstaLOD mesh operations, it's advisable to change their name.
If the import fails, the meshes in the scene can be renamed and the import can be reattempted by clicking 'Reattempt Mesh Import' (see screenshot).
