About this document
When exporting scenes from InstaLOD Studio, additional settings can be used to determine which surface attributes to export and which ones to remove. The output file size can drastically change depending on the information that is preserved or removed when exporting.
To export a scene, use one of the following options:
File -> Export Scene
File -> Export Selection
Export Settings
The export settings are located on the right side of the export window.
With 'Type' set to 'Default', InstaLOD will export the entire scene including all unused nodes such as materials, textures, etc.
Custom Export Settings
Changing the 'Type' to 'Custom' will enable additional export settings.
Embed Media: Embedding media such as Textures allows the file to function without dependencies. Embedding media only works on supported file formats (such as FBX or GLTF).
UVs: Export meshes with UV information
Normals: Export meshes with Normal information.
Binormals And Tangents: Export meshes with Binormal and Tangent information
Smoothing Groups: Export smoothing groups
Vertex Colors: export vertex color sets
Empty Meshes: export empty mesh nodes that have no polygons
Empty Nodes: export empty nodes, e.g. Materials
Use Profile Settings
Export settings can be saved and exported within InstaLODs JSON Profiles. Using the 'Use Profile' export setting will use the custom export settings from within the loaded Profile. These settings can be reviewed and edited by navigating into the 'Profile Settings' window.
