About this document
InstaLODs baker makes the creation of high-quality textures a quick and easy task. The PBR viewport automatically displays normal and diffuse textures on the model whilst other baked textures can be viewed in the UV viewer. Exporting models with their correlating textures is typically an easy task, however, some file formats need additional steps.
Texture Output
Baked textures are automatically saved and exported after a successful operation. The default output location is "\user\Documents\InstaLOD Studio\Textures\" and can be configured to a different output location within the 'Texture Output' window.
The 'File Name Format' can be edited using a large option of strings that can be viewed here.
Exporting Files with Textures
A variety of file formats have the option to 'Embed Media' which allows them to save textures within them. The export settings can be configured in the export window by changing the 'Type' from 'Default' to 'Custom'.
Some formats do not support the embedding of textures, such as OBJ files. The OBJ file format generates an .MTL file which holds the material information including the location of the texture files. The referenced texture file location is the location used in the 'Output Location' which can be configured in the 'Texture Output' window. When importing an OBJ file, the textures need to be connected manually to the correct material inputs.
